One of the keys to Gibson's 2015 line up is helping you get the sound and feel you want out of your guitar so they have added in some cool new tools and features that look to not only give you more control than ever before but to speed up your set up time so you spend less time fiddling and more time playing.
The first key upgrade comes from the Zero Fret Nut which gives you much more control over the action and set up of your guitar. The Zero Fret Nut is a completely adjustable nut so you get more control over your set up than ever before especially when it comes to your action lower down the neck. Another great part of the Zero Fret Nut is that it does not need to be filed or cut down significantly if you wanted to make any adjustments for string gauge or for action meaning you can change your set up without doing permanent modifications to your SG Special. With the SG Special you also get the new G-Force tuning system which has come out to replace the Mini-ETune system that has been in the Gibson line up for a couple of years now. The great thing with the G-Force tuning system is that you can tune up your guitar without having to touch your tuners, just simply select the tuning you want from the back of the headstock (of which you can program some of your own presets) and after some strums you will be in you will be in whatever tuning you selected. This is great if you want to change tunings often quickly and easily or you don't want to fiddle with manual tuning in between songs when you can do it automatically.
The Hex key bridge is a smaller update but makes a big difference to how you will set up your guitar. With the ability to change your action at the bridge without using a screwdriver. The new hex key bridge now has as the name suggests hex key points on the thumbscrews so for control of your bridge all you need is a hex key or your hands.
With the new modern maple slim taper neck you already have a great feeling guitar that has that modern touch but Gibson has taken it even further with a new PLEK fret program and a wider neck that gives you better playability with a more modern feel. The new PLEK program that is being used across the 2015 Gibson USA range gives you a 27% lower fret wire which allows you to set the action lower and decreases the fretting out issues that can come with higher frets
